DEEP LISTENING WALK #1 : 18 JULY 2021

The first River Echoes Deep Listening Walk is at 11am on Sunday 18th July to coincide with WORLD LISTENING DAY. The walk launches an ongoing collective investigation into the hidden sound-world of Bristol’s river Frome.

This walk will be led by artist Kathy Hinde, joined by freshwater ecologist Dr. Ian Thornhill from Bath Spa University. Kathy will lead a walk along the river Frome, with regular pauses to listen to the water through underwater microphones (hydrophones), and Ian will share some of his knowledge about freshwater ecology.

River Echoes Deep Listening Walks and are transmitted live onto wireless headphones offering an enhanced listening experience of a live mix between the usually inaudible underwater soundscape and amplified sounds of the surroundings interspersed with a conversation between the walking guides.
